She was raised in Bristol, TN. After graduation from Bristol Tennessee High School, she obtained her BA Cum Laude in English from Manchester College in North Manchester, IN. After moving to New York City, she later obtained a JD degree from Fordham Law School. Sherron retired from her management role in the Group Contract Division of Metropolitan Life in 1998 after serving almost 30 years. He was predeceased by his father, Henry Clarence Guerin and his mother, Jeanette Katherine (Light) Guerin. Kevin is survived by his beloved wife of 40 years, Stacy L (Smith) Guerin. His three children, Nicholas J Guerin, Dr. Steven J Guerin, PhD, and Katherine L (Guerin) Archer, along with his son-in-law, Troy H Archer, and 3 month old grandson, Hunter Kevin Archer.\n\n\n\nKevin was born at CVPH in Plattsburgh, NY and attended Saranac High School. He served 4.5 years in the US Air Force, where he was stationed in New Mexico, Germany and California. Kevin met the love of his life, Stacy, while working for the Ward Lumber company in Jay, New York, as a forklift operator. They relocated to Syracuse, married and Kevin enrolled at Onondaga community college. He excelled in electronics and graduated as valedictorian of his class in the Electrical Technology program at OCC. Soon after, he started his 35 year career at the SUNY College of Environmental Sciences and Forestry. Kevin thoroughly enjoyed bringing his expertise in electronics, material science and mechanics to teach and assist countless grad students and college faculty members with design, fabrication and repair of analytical and technical equipment. He was a true and trusted friend to his many coworkers, collaborators and students. He retired at the end of 2024.\n\n\n\nKevin and Stacy settled in Hastings, NY, focusing on raising a family and enjoying an active outdoor life. Kevin was active in every part of his children’s lives. During school, he was an active and valuable asset to their teachers and coaches. Outside of school, he was an active member of PTA, Cub Scouts, Boy Scouts and Girl Scouts. Kevin was a true and avid sportsman. His skill and patience were hard to beat. The whole family was very active with the Northshore Sportsman’s Club in Bernhards Bay, camping, swimming, canoeing, shooting, and riding 4-wheelers. As the kids got older, Kevin and Stacy moved onto kayaking and motorcycle riding as their favorite pastimes. \n\n\n\nKevin and Stacy moved to Raleigh, NC in early April to be near Kate and her growing family. He spent 2 precious weeks with them and his grandson before losing his battle with cancer. \n\n\n\nA Celebration of Life is planned for noon on Sunday, July 20th, at the Hastings Volunteer Fire Station. The dress code is casual. Donations, in leu of flowers, can be made to Helping Hounds Dog Rescue of Syracuse, NY or any other animal charity of your choosing. She passed peacefully in her sleep, and had been happy and alert in her last days. Donna was a butterfly, most of her life. She fluttered from place to place, bringing color and mystery with her. Her life experiences were as much of a myriad, as the colors she would bring with her. She was a bit of a prankster extraordinaire, but her intents were always for laughter. He was a proud U.S. Navy veteran and a graduate of the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. Michael’s infectious laughter, quick wit, and unending humor brought joy to everyone around him.\n\nMichael was a devoted husband to Shirley Collins for 34 years, a loving father to Jessica Collins Hill (Josh) and Rachel Collins (Danny), and a cherished grandfather to Briggs, Walter, and Wade Hill. To his family, he was the heart of every gathering and a constant source of love and support.\n\nHe was preceded in death by his parents, Raymond and Dorothy, and his brother, Brian Collins. West, Jr.","content":{"data":{"content":"Paul D. West, Jr., age 84, of Raleigh, passed away Sunday morning, May 4, 2025, at Sunrise of Raleigh. Paul was born September 21, 1940, in Charlotte, North Carolina.  His parents relocated to Fayetteville where Paul grew up.  He was preceded in death by his father, Paul D. West, Sr. and his mother, Elizabeth Turlington West.\n\nAfter graduating from Campbell University, Paul began his career as an admissions counselor at Methodist College in Fayetteville, North Carolina, and later became the Director of Student Financial Aid there. He then transitioned to North Carolina State University where he was the Associate Director of Student Financial Aid for 20 years.  During his time there, he transitioned to processing of financial aid applications from paper and pencil to an automated system.  From NC State University, he joined Duke University’s Fuqua School of Business as the Director of Student Financial Aid.  He was active in the National Association of Student Financial Aid Administrators; later in his career, he mentored new financial assistance officers across the country in university graduate school programs. \n\nIn 2002, Paul suffered a cardiac arrest several days following open heart surgery; oxygen deprivation for six minutes resulted in a catastrophic anoxic brain injury which forever changed the course of his life and that of his family. Paul lived with this injury for 22 years. His family will always remember his courage and bravery during those years.\n\nPaul is survived by his wife of 53 years, Betsy Lambert West; his son, John A. West (Shelly) of Durham; and his daughter, Kelley West McFarland (Seth) of Raleigh. She was also predeceased by her closest sibling and perhaps favorite person Winnie Whitman, brothers Carl, Ed, Nate and sisters Martha, Elsie and Doris.\n\nCora and Tom had been residents of Raleigh since moving from upstate New York as part of IBM's large relocation to Raleigh in the mid 1980's.\n\nCora was a member of the Asbury Church in Raleigh where she had many friends. She received loving spiritual guidance at Asbury from Lead Paster Rev. Dr. Jonathan Jeffries, and Associate Paster Rev. Andy Mannes.\n\nCora was an avid quilter and won awards for her beautiful work at the North Carolina State Fair.
