She was presented as a debutante at the Terpsichorean Club Ball, then spent the following year studying in France at the Université Paris Cité. \n\nWhen she returned to the states, she obtained a Master's of Education at the University of North Carolina-Chapel Hill, and taught high school French in Charlotte, N.C. On July 1, 1962, Susan married Dr. Preston H. Bradshaw, Jr. \n\nSusan graduated with honors from Campbell University School of Law in 1980 and found joy and fulfillment as an attorney specializing in Social Security disability law. Her daughter was honored to join her in her law practice, which Susan did not retire from until age 77. \n\nAfter retirement, she found great satisfaction playing bridge and was a fierce competitor in local groups. Susan will be remembered as smart, independent, and generous with her family and friends. \n\nSusan loved the beach and spent many happy days there, first at her home in Cherry Grove, S.C, and later at her condo at Ocean Beach Isle, N.C. While at the shore she spent hours walking the beach and amassed a huge collection of seashells, which provided a bounty of materials for her hobby making seashell crafts. \n\nSusan is survived by her siblings, Dr. Rebecca Buckley of Durham, N.C. and Dr. Martin Hatcher, of Greensboro, N.C.; her two children Michael Scott Bradshaw, and (Susan) Michelle Bradshaw Harris; and her two grandchildren, Stephanie and Matthew Harris. She was predeceased by her former husband, Dr. Preston H. Bradshaw, Jr, and her companion of 25 years, Dr. George C. Four of her siblings—Javier Toledano, Lucy Toledano, Guadalupe Toledano, and Bruno Toledano—continue to cherish her memory, alongside the loving remembrance of her two late brothers, Jaime Toledano and Arturo Toledano.\n\nDriven by love and determination, Ana Maria immigrated to the United States to build a better life for her family. Together with her beloved husband, Leoncio Samanez, she raised four children—Rafael, Miguel, Leonardo, and Mariana—instilling in them the values of compassion, perseverance, and the importance of family.\n\nAna Maria worked for over 20 years as a Spanish interpreter at the Cleveland Clinic, where she helped bridge communication for countless patients and families. Her kindness and dedication brought comfort and clarity during times of need and touched many lives.\n\nBeyond her professional life, Ana Maria found joy in caring for her family and preparing delicious meals that brought everyone together. Her home was a place of warmth, love, and laughter.\n\nHer grandchildren—Isabel, Maxwell, and James—were a constant source of joy and happiness in her life.\n\nA funeral service will be held on Thursday, May 29, 2025, at 11:00 AM at Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church, 2718 Overbrook Dr, Raleigh, NC 27608.\n\nFor those who wish to send flowers, arrangements may be delivered directly to Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church at the address above on the morning of the service.\n\nIn honor of Ana Maria’s memory, the family also welcomes donations to CurePSP, a nonprofit organization dedicated to the awareness, care, and cure for progressive supranuclear palsy (PSP), corticobasal degeneration (CBD), and multiple system atrophy (MSA).
