She is preceded in death by her father, Clyde Wayne Lee; paternal grandparents, Clyde and Agnes Lee; maternal grandparents, Cecil and Pauline Denson Jones and Joseph Jones; sister, Michele Lee. She leaves behind her mother, Sharon Seagroves (Wayne); sister Sabrina Derleth (Patrick); her children daughter, Jessica Armstrong (Jeffery); son, Jeff Armstrong and daughter, Amber Brown (Drew); nephews, Danny Godwin and Andrew Derleth. Her grandchildren were her world and she will be greatly missed by River, Brayson, Lainey and Laicey. \nRenee meant so much to so many people. It's hard to name them all here but you know who you are! She was a woman of great courage, strength, and resilience and she showed this so effortlessly and gracefully.\n\nCancer might've finally taken her from us but she touched the lives of SO MANY in her journey here on Earth. Joan was the glue that kept the family together and laughing.\n\nJoan is reunited with her eldest brother, Russell, and leaves her legacy and longstanding impact to daughter, Rachel and son, Jesse. As well as Brooklyn, her precious granddaughter. She was the 3rd child born to Graham Albert Phillips and Rosa Virginia George.  Her brother was named Graham Phillips Jr. and her sister is named Betty Phillips.\n\nMost of her youth was lived in Warsaw, NC. There she graduated from high school and went on to East Carolina University. She met Kenneth Lambert Midyette in school and they married and produced 3 sons. Their names are Ken, Lewis and Tommy. \n\nOne of Lillie Mae's first jobs was in a retail store in downtown Warsaw.  There were many cousins in Warsaw who ran a farming business. Lillie Mae worked the tobacco fields for a time and decided she didn't like doing that much. She also worked in Wake County's public school system for awhile. Art teacher's assistant was another of her titles in Wake County's public school system. Lillie Mae took a correspondence course in design from an institution in Chicago. In the late 70's, she went on to start her own custom drapery-making business. She enjoyed this work the most and continued with it for about 47 years. Customers were impressed with her excellent work and commented on how very talented she was.\n\nLillie Mae enjoyed rock, pop and country music, politics, conversation, biographies, history and her pets. She was a very compassionate person who very often rescued stray cats and dogs.\n\nPossessing high morals and strong principles, she lived a life following biblical teachings. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather, and friend to many.\n\nJeffrey Lynnwood Kennedy was born on September 19th, 1956 in Atlanta, Georgia. He was the son of Jack and Patricia Kennedy and grew up with three siblings, Jack, Walter and twin brother Patrick. He was a graduate of Needham Broughton Highschool class of 1975 and then attended North Carolina State University, where he graduated with a degree in Psychology.\n\nJeff was married to the love of his life, Dawn Harris Kennedy, for 44 years and together they raised two children, Jeffrey Cole Kennedy and Courtney Kennedy DiFranco. He worked as a sales manager for 30 years in the electrical distribution space, where he was known for his dedication, hard work, and success.\n\nJeff had a passion for sports cars, coin collecting, golfing, outdoor activities, movies, craft beer and cheering on his Wolfpack. He enjoyed spending his free time with his grandchildren, vacationing frequently in both Blowing Rock and Ocean Isle Beach, North Carolina throughout his lifetime. His larger-than-life personality, social prowess, willingness to make friends with anyone guided him through life and made him unforgettable.\n\nHe is survived by his loving wife, Dawn, his son Jeffrey (Allison) , daughter Courtney (Sam) and three grandchildren. He will be deeply missed by his family, friends, and all who knew him.\n\nA celebration of life will be held on Thursday, July 10th, from Noon until 2 pm at The Corner & Meeting House of Wake Forest, 102 North Ave., Wake Forest, 27587. Her parents, John and Cecelia Sweeney, raised her alongside siblings Nora and Judy in Nutley, New Jersey. She graduated from Immaculate Conception High School in 1980. She met her husband, Andrew Gerding, on a blind date that ended up lasting 37 years, which were full of adventures, laughter, lots of Springsteen, and most importantly two incredible children, Casey and Jeffrey. \n\nThe Gerdings settled in the heart of Cary, NC, and anyone who has had the privilege of spending time on Brookgreen Drive can tell you that it is more than a home— it’s a place where all are greeted with a cold drink, warm food, and the constant vibrations of good music, which will continue to be amplified by the signature Jackie dance. She moved through life similar to this dance– a soft and comforting sway, occasionally on beat, but always with a warm smile and hands together holding all those who loved her close by. Jackie loved a cold glass of Irish whiskey, planning celebrations and parties like the annual Gerding Thanksgiving, jamming to Bruce Springsteen, cheering on the Fighting Irish, relaxing on the beach, and the constant hum of HGTV in the background. \n\nShe is survived by her husband, Andrew Gerding; her son, Jeffrey Gerding; her daughter, Casey Gerding Yiottis and son-in-law Nick Yiottis; her mother-in-law, Peggy Gerding; her sister, Nora Bishop; her sister, Judy Thanhauser and brother-in-law, David Thanhauser; her brother-in law, Paul Gerding, and sister-in-law, Lisa Gerding; many nieces and nephews; and her beloved granddaughter, Anastasia Cecelia Yiottis. She was so proud of her many grandchildren and great grandchildren. Connie loved to bake cakes for family and friends and to tending her garden. A memorial service is planned in her honor on June7, 2025 at Olive Grove Baptist Church at 3024 Olive Grove church road Creedmoor NC . Visitation is at 10am followed by a service at 11 am. Outside of her career, she had a deep love for nature and found joy in flowers and gardening. For 15 to 20 years, she owned a greenhouse, nurturing both plants and the hearts of those who came through its doors. She was also known for her talent in the kitchen, where she found delight in cooking and canning—an art she lovingly shared with her family.\nA woman of strong faith, Kathleen was a lifelong member of Herman Methodist Church and, in recent years, worshipped at Oak Level Christian Church, where she remained active in fellowship and service.\nShe is survived by her loving children: son Charlie Timberlake (Julie), son Jim Young, and daughter Kathy Holmquist (Todd). She leaves behind a legacy of love in her eleven grandchildren and sixteen great-grandchildren.
