They immigrated to the United States in 1961 to Lexington, Massachusetts when Jan was hired by the Itek Corporation. Here he worked on government contracts for the space program making optical equipment, wrote training manuals, and trained technicians the art of optics.\nWhile in Massachusetts Jan and Corrie welcomed two girls; Carolyn van Kampen (wife of Erik), and Jacqueline Shepstone (wife of Stephen).\n\nWhen his career later led him into sales of lasers and optics they settled in Berks County, Pennsylvania and completed thier family when they were blessed with another daughter; Erica Folk (wife of Richard).\n Jan spent many years traveling across the globe for business and when it was time to retire they moved to Apex, North Carolina to be closer to thier daughters and grandchildren.\n\nJan and Corrie were Opa and Oma to seven grandchildren Riley Shepstone, Peri van Kampen, Brittany Shepstone, Brennan Shepstone, Gwen Folk, Nikolas Folk, and Kate Shepstone.\n\nHe was always looking for ways to serve the communities in which he lived. \nThese included being an usher in church, driving a school bus, meals on wheels, backpack buddies, and in his younger years teaching English to others immigrating to the US.\n\nHe will be remembered by his family and friends as a great storyteller and always the life of the party, he relished being the perfect host even if it wasn't his soiree.\n\nHis favorite place to be was on the water be it by a lake or an ocean. His favorite time of day was happy hour, where he could raise a glass and toast his family and friends. \"Today is the first day of the rest of your life. First born to Linda Archibold Huie and Ruperto Jose Huie.   There were three brothers and two sisters:  Roberto, Isabel, Andres and Maria Ines Huie.  \n\nThe family relocated to Brooklyn, NY where Antonio enlisted in the US Army.  He was stationed in Germany as a medic.  When he honorably discharged from the Army, he attended Brooklyn College where he graduated with a nursing degree. He worked as an Operating Room nurse until he switched careers and worked as an Executive in the Greater New York Council, Boy Scouts of America; where he remained until retirement for 30 years.  \n\nDuring his time with the Boy Scouts, he found his love for the outdoors.  He spent much of his free time camping, hunting and fishing. \n\nAntonio is survived by his wife Elise, five children:  Antonio Huie, Jr., Christopher Huie, Eric Huie, Olivia Bartley and Austin Huie, 6 grandchildren:  Melissa, Diana, Meadow, and Zorianna and 5 great grandchildren:  Blake, Aiden, Elena, Vera, and Rosalie. \n\nHe is preceded in death by his parents Ruperto and Linda Huie, his daughter, Bianca Christina Huie and brothers Andres and Roberto Huie. \n\nAntonio was a beloved son, brother, husband, father, grandfather, great grandfather, uncle, godfather and friend. She was a graduate of Miami University in Oxford, Ohio and earned a BA in Education. It was during her time in college where she met her future husband, John Dopler, of East Liverpool, OH. During her early years, she loved horseback riding and boarded her horse at the city park. She loved the big band era and often went to dances in and around her hometown. She grew up in the Presbyterian Church and was always a church member wherever she lived. Janet often volunteered her time, with some of her favorites being a docent at Woodlawn Plantation, a National Trust for Historic Preservation property in Alexandria VA, and at Habitat for Humanity of Chatham County, in Pittsboro. Her many activities included oil painting, gardening, crafting, antiques, travel to the Shenandoah Valley in VA, studying family genealogy, playing Mahjongg with friends in Fearrington Village, and spending time with her family. She still enjoyed some of these hobbies into her final years at WaltonWood Lake Boone in Raleigh.\n\nShe was predeceased by her husband of 58 years, Col. John R Dopler, USMC; her brother Lawrence A. Fleming, and her parents. She is survived by her son John Charles Dopler, daughter-in-law April Leigh Layne, and grandson John Nikolas Dopler, of Raleigh; four nieces: Pat Anderson of Madison, OH, Debra Fleming of Perrysville, OH, Barbara Gizzo of Westerville, OH, and Becky Fleming of Seattle, WA, their families, and cousins and their families in western OH and VA.\n\nA handbell choir service will be held in her honor this autumn at Chapel in the Pines Presbyterian Church, date TBA. Janet will be buried alongside her husband at Arlington National Cemetery in the coming year. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to Chapel in the Pines Presbyterian Church, Pittsboro, NC; Habitat for Humanity of Pittsboro, NC, the American Heart Association, and Transitions LifeCare (Hospice) in Raleigh, NC.
