She had a heart of gold and would give you the shirt off her back if you needed it. She had a remarkable talent for art and fashion design, using her creativity to bring beauty into the world. Beyond her artistic abilities, Katherine was a devoted mother and grandmother, cherishing every moment spent with her family.\n\nKatherine is survived by her loving son, K. B. Pearce Jr., and wife Bonnie Pearce, her brother Hugh F. McManus III and wife Karen Harris McManus, as well as her grandsons K. B. Pearce III and wife Kellie Pearce, and Brandon Forest Pearce. Niece Kimberly McManus Weinbach and Hugh Forrest McManus IV She also leaves behind her cherished great-granddaughter, Kinley Pearce.\nShe was preceded in death by her father, Dr. Hugh F. McManus Jr. and mother, Katie Cash McManus and infant daughter Rebecca Katherine Pearce. Their memory will forever be held close to the hearts of those who loved them.\n\nA celebration of Katherine’s life will be held during the spring of 2024. Details of the service will be announced at a later date, allowing friends and family to gather and honor her memory together.\n\nIn lieu of flowers, the family kindly request that donations be made to the Alzheimer’s Association of your choice. Contributions will help support research and provide aid to those affected by this devastating disease.\n\n“Kay” Cash McManus will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved her. Her legacy of warmth, artistic talent, and devotion to her family will continue to inspire those whose lives she touched. She was 74 years old. Wenfo was born on January 20, 1949, in Jakarta, Indonesia. Both of her parents were well-respected public servants. Her father served as the President of the Jakarta Overseas Chinese Association, and her mother was an active leader in the Jakarta Chinese Women's Association.\n\nWenfo was the youngest of eight siblings and consistently ranked first in her class during primary school. She later attended the renowned Jakarta Chinese Middle School, Hua Chung. She also possessed exceptional artistic talents, excelling in dance and piano performances both in school and within the Chinese society.\n\nIn 1966, she traveled to China with hopes of furthering her studies but was unable to do so due to the cultural revolution. In 1972, she relocated to Hong Kong, where she pursued evening studies and eventually worked as an accountant. She also taught piano and Chinese to Korean senior executives.\n\nDuring a vacation in Hamburg in 1988, Wenfo was introduced to Wolfgang Witz, who was on a business trip. In December 1990, Wolfgang flew from New York to Paris, then to Hamburg, and married Wenfo in Hong Kong. They hosted a wedding reception in Jakarta, where Wenfo's family resided, and honeymooned in Bali. Their journey continued eastward to Papua, Los Angeles, and back to New York. Wolfgang often told people that he had to fly all around the world to catch his ‘perfect’ bride.\n\nThroughout their marriage, Wenfo wholeheartedly supported Wolfgang in his career as a pen expert. She managed household chores, bookings, and provided care, always standing by his side. A friend once described them as an inseparable pair of lovebirds. He was 60 years old being born 3/4/1963 in Cleveland, Tennessee in Bradley County to the late Kevin Lloyd Harpe and Clata Lucille Bandy Warren.\n\nDouglas and his family moved to Durham, N.C. in 1974 where he attended elementary school and high school graduating in 1982. He attended business college in 1983 and started working for Durham Exchange Club Industries in 1984. He worked for DECI until his retirement in 2007. Douglas was a member of Cole Mill Road Church of Christ from 1979 until his death. He had a deep rooted faith in God and the saving grace of Jesus Christ that never wavered. Doug loved his church, family, friends and a special love for his nieces Lilly and Lexi Harpe.\n\nDouglas had numerous health challenges in his life starting from adolescence but persevered and was an inspiration to all people he knew. He had many interests of which was music especially Elvis Presley who he saw in person in 1976.  Douglas had a great love for eating out, animals and spending time with his friends.\nDouglas’ persona is larger than death.\n\nA memorial service will be held 11/11/23 at 11am at Cole Mill Road Church of Christ , 1617 Cole Mill Road in Durham, N.C. 27705 celebrating his life.\n\nDouglas is survived by brothers David Harpe, Clay Thaxton and Dennis Harpe.\nSister, Celia George and Sister in Laws Lisa Harpe, Jessica Harpe and Linda Thaxton.\nLastly he is survived by his beloved nieces Lilly Harpe and Lexi Harpe."}},"city":"Raleigh","county":"Wake","state":"North Carolina","deathdate":"10/01/2023","age":60,"user_updated":true,"image":{"localFile":{"publicURL":"/static/cfb503090cea3d7ee49711f0c03a869e/object_Object_562e015ca7.jpeg"}}}}]}},"pageContext":{"limit":12,"skip":2148,"numPages":317,"currentPage":180,"numObits":3797,"featured":false}},
