Audrey, the fourth of five children, was born on December 8, 1947 to John and Charlotte Fleming in Clinton, New York.\n\nAudrey graduated from Union Endicott High School in 1966 and attended Monroe Community College in Rochester, NY. It was during this time she met and then later married Hank Taylor in November of 1968. They remained married for almost 55 years, an enormous tribute to their love and dedication to each other. Hank and Audrey brought three daughters into this world: Suzette Ambrose, Charlotte Taylor, and Kathryn Abbey.\n\nAudrey held various career roles throughout her lifetime. She is most generally known for her role as a public servant both at the town and county levels. She thrived helping others and was truly passionate about making positive changes for all. Audrey also opened her own clothing business, Audrey’s Classic Clothing, and loved every minute of this part of her life.  She was friendly and charismatic, helping to develop a consistent and personal customer base. She held other positions, but none more important than being a wife to Hank, a mother to her daughters, a grandmother to her grandchildren, and a mom to her cats.\n\nAudrey is best known for her brilliant smile, infectious laugh, personable disposition, and love of life. She held onto dear friendships from New York to North Carolina and everywhere in between. Audrey will forever be missed by all those who were graced with her love and friendship.\n\nAudrey is survived by her husband, Hank Taylor; her daughters Sue, Charlotte, and Katie; her grandchildren John and Lily Bogumil (Sue), Taylor and Aidan Case (Charlotte), and Jack, Lee, and Sara Abbey (Katie).\n\nA service will be held at City of Oaks Funeral Home & Cremations, 4900 Green Road, Raleigh, NC 27616.\n\nFlowers and/or donations to the Dementia Alliance of North Carolina, The Humane Society of the United States, or The SPCA of Wake County would be greatly appreciated should you feel inclined to make a donation."}},"city":"Cary","county":"Wake","state":"North Carolina","deathdate":"10/26/2023","age":75,"user_updated":true,"image":{"localFile":{"publicURL":"/static/749ff2da9d511314b4c67a652e2c0841/object_Object_b635c439ac.jpeg"}}}},{"node":{"id":"a23acbb4-7815-592d-bed4-8da7bb01dde2","slug":"article-248","name":"Zita Nancy Teer Conklin","content":{"data":{"content":"Much loved because she loved all unconditionally, Zita Nancy Teer Conklin of Durham, NC passed from history into eternity Thursday, October 26, 2023 at Duke Regional Hospital following a brief illness.\n\nBorn April 20, 1941 in Lake City, SC, she was the daughter of the late William E. Teer and Marguerite Stewart Teer, and the widow of Joel H. Conklin of Durham.\n\nThe defining characteristic of Zita’s entire life was always caring for others more than herself. Born July 5, 1946, in Buffalo, New York, he lived the better part of his life in Florida.  While being with family and watching baseball were certainly his favorites; he also loved golf, fishing, gaming, and watching every variety of sport.  He was an avid member of the Buffalo Bills Mafia and loved the Sabres.  He is preceded in death by his father - Ernest Sr., mother - Betty Jane and brother – Bill.  He is survived by: three sons; Richard, Ronald and Christopher:  daughters-in-law; Laureen and Mrs. Kris:  Siblings; Linda, Leslie, Eric, Duane, and Jim.  His finest legacy is his immensely loved Grandchildren: Megan, Elizabeth, Brian, Emily, and Julianna.  He is greatly missed by all who know him for his kindness, generosity, compassion, humor, friendship, and love.  We will see you again, but until then enjoy the beauty and splendor the Lord has made for you.
