Rosmarino, 82, of Raleigh, North Carolina, passed away peacefully on December 21, the winter solstice, with her daughters by her side. Kathryn lived in the Raleigh area for the past 28 years. She grew up in Otisco, New York in a large family. She had fond memories of life growing up on the farm.\nShe studied at LeMoyne College, with plans to become a nun. She was married to her former spouse John Rosmarino for 30 years, and they raised five daughters in Cazenovia, New York. Her five girls were the greatest pride of her life. She loved being a mother. Up until the end of her long life she would ask how her daughters were, even when she was enduring hardship.\n\nHer daughters and their families will miss her dearly: Gina Jennings of Raleigh, NC, Denise Searle and her husband, James, of Black Mountain, NC, Bettina Rosmarino of Palms Springs, CA, Claudine Wispelwey and her husband, Nicholas, of Charlottesville, VA, and Nicole Rosmarino and her husband, Jay Tutchton, of Centennial, CO. Kathryn treasured her grandchildren: Thaddeus and Oliver Searle and Garrett and Lucy Wispelwey. \n\nKathryn was profoundly loving, compassionate, and charitable. She never hesitated to donate to individuals and organizations in need. She was also active in politics, pressing for what was just. She loved gardening, cooking, baking, and hand-written letters telling you she loved you.\n\nShe worked at Syracuse University for many years, putting each of her daughters through collegeand herself earning a degree in psychology. Kathryn was a life-long learner: a voracious reader, it wasn’t uncommon for her to be reading five books at once. \n\nShe was known for her constant smile and humor and desire to help others. She made friends easily and laughed with everyone right up until the end.\nIn addition to her daughters, Kathryn is survived by her sister, Marie Anne McDonough of Camillus, NY, her brother Patrick McDonough (Lori) of Marietta, NY, her brother Francis McDonough (CeCe) of Lafayette, NY, her close friend, Darlene Rosmarino of Frederick, MD, and many loving nieces and nephews. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the charities she loved to support: Oswit Land Trust, Southern Plains Land Trust, and SPCA of Wake County. The family is thankful to the staff at Duke Raleigh Hospital for their excellent care.\n"}},"city":"Raleigh","county":"Wake","state":"North Carolina","deathdate":"12/21/2023","age":82,"user_updated":true,"image":{"localFile":{"publicURL":"/static/01bff0a3ab9065e8e7be9f860db9580b/IMG_20231226_000624_b414714ab6.jpg"}}}},{"node":{"id":"4bf69195-eaa6-5401-ac7d-079d9a0065c0","slug":"2023-12-21-Jame-Smith","name":"Jame Smith","content":{"data":{"content":""}},"city":"Morrisville","county":"Wake","state":"North Carolina","deathdate":"12/21/2023","age":64,"user_updated":false,"image":null}},{"node":{"id":"50be0a57-12af-516f-9538-2e6ee44d434e","slug":"article-298","name":"Michael Zsitnyar","content":{"data":{"content":""}},"city":"Cary","county":"Wake","state":"North Carolina","deathdate":"12/20/2023","age":66,"user_updated":false,"image":null}},{"node":{"id":"7936c2d0-030f-5cc9-a6e8-158ee377d39a","slug":"2023-12-20-William-Baron","name":"William Baron","content":{"data":{"content":""}},"city":"Wake Forest","county":"Wake","state":"North Carolina","deathdate":"12/20/2023","age":96,"user_updated":false,"image":null}},{"node":{"id":"1cdedd67-3c87-59b5-aa9b-2c2952a90782","slug":"2023-12-19-William-Daniels","name":"William Daniels","content":{"data":{"content":"William T. Daniels, age 86, passed away at home in Morrisville, NC, on December 19, 2023. William (Bill) was born in Buffalo, NY on November 7, 1937. He was the oldest son of Woodbury and Gladys Daniels and grew up in Amherst, NY. \n\nBill graduated from the University of Buffalo in 1960, where he was active in the Phi Kappa Psi Fraternity and was editor of the yearbook. It was there where he met Doreen Gross. Bill and Doreen wed on August 27, 1960, and had three children: Michael, Jeffrey, and Amy. \n\nBill was a member of the Army National Guard and was mobilized and stationed at Ft. Dix in 1961 in response to the Berlin Wall crisis. After completing two years of service, Bill worked at Travelers Insurance, eventually becoming a Chartered Life Underwriter. His work moved him and his family from Buffalo, NY, to Newington, CT, Clifton Park, NY, then back to Newington, CT, where he remained until retirement. \n\nIn all the places he lived, Bill was active in the community, volunteering with civic clubs such as Lion’s Club and Rotary Club, participating in local politics, and being an active church member. He spent his free time playing bridge and gardening and loved to go sailing. Bill would spend vacation time with his wife and children visiting friends and family in Buffalo, NY, Ontario, Canada, and on the coast of Connecticut (Westbrook). \n\nIn 1989, Bill retired from Travelers Insurance and opened a real estate office with Doreen. Once he retired from that, in 2002, Bill and Doreen moved to Littleton, Colorado, to be near their three children. \n\nDuring retirement, Bill spent time with his children and grandchildren, became a Master Gardener, volunteered with the Denver Center for the Performing Arts, and was active in a local retired men’s group. In 2012, Bill and Doreen moved to Holly Springs, North Carolina, where their daughter had just moved. Bill continued volunteering for the theater and became a Master Gardner in North Carolina. He started a Retired Men’s Group in Holly Springs and was a member of the Board of Adjustments for the town. Bill had an incredible zest for life, was loved by all, and could always be counted on for a laugh, joke, or pun. \n\nWilliam is survived by his wife of 63 years, Doreen Daniels; their three children, Micheal (Kim) Daniels, Jeffrey Daniels, Amy (David) Dethlefsen; grandchildren Katherine (Conor) Maas, Christopher Daniels, Ryan Dethlefsen; and great-grandchild, Brooks Maas. Growing up on the family farm, David was a voracious reader from an early age. He was active in the Boy Scouts, eventually joining the Order of the Arrow. After graduating high school, he joined the Coast Guard where he spent four years helping stranded beach goers and lost ships in some of the roughest conditions on the coast of North Carolina. He went on to graduate from NC State. \n\nIn 1978, David married Linda Carol Greene. They would spend the next 45 years together. He was a devoted, loving husband, and it was rare that they were ever apart. His son, Jon, and daughter, Jenny, came along a few years later. As a father, David was slow to anger (if he ever got angry at all), even-keeled and had a good sense of humor. He always seemed to have a believable answer to any random question the kids had and was admired for his wealth of knowledge about nature. With the arrival of two granddaughters, David became “Peepaw.” He loved his granddaughters more than life itself, and they loved him. He had a lavender polo shirt he would wear just for them.\n\nProfessionally, David was a soil and water conservationist for the State of North Carolina. He spent 31 years helping farmers and communities like those that he grew up in. For this, he received some official recognition. But maybe more importantly, he earned the respect and appreciation of the people he worked alongside. In retirement, he and Linda volunteered with Meals on Wheels where he brought not only meals but companionship to the people he visited. He enjoyed gardening. And even though the condos that he and Linda lived in had professional landscapers, he would get his hands dirty himself when he could. \n\nHis life was a life of servitude.\n\nDavid was also a devoted Christian. He attended church with Linda for years and would sing bass in the choir. He loved the Lord and wanted people to come to know the love of Jesus Christ. One of his favorite passages from the Bible was “A psalm of David,” Psalm 23.\n\nThe Lord is my shepherd, I lack nothing.\nHe makes me lie down in green pastures, \nhe leads me beside quiet waters, he refreshes my soul.\nHe guides me along the right paths for his name’s sake.\nEven though I walk through the darkest valley, I will fear no evil,\nfor you are with me; your rod and your staff, they comfort me.\nYou prepare a table before me in the presence of my enemies.\nYou anoint my head with oil; my cup overflows.\nSurely your goodness and love will follow me all the days of my life, \nand I will dwell in the house of the Lord forever.\n\nThe loss of David leaves a large hole in those he leaves behind. But we know he’s in a better place now. We are sure that, when the Lord saw him, He said “Well done, good and faithful servant.”"}},"city":"Raleigh","county":"Wake","state":"North Carolina","deathdate":"12/19/2023","age":70,"user_updated":true,"image":{"localFile":{"publicURL":"/static/3286d377f88e67e9c89d21623b9408e4/object_Object_0f756ff424.jpeg"}}}},{"node":{"id":"f5525fbd-2b19-55e9-9da5-91b83719ab90","slug":"2023-12-18-Patsy-Fabela","name":"Patsy Fabela","content":{"data":{"content":""}},"city":"Raleigh","county":"Wake","state":"North Carolina","deathdate":"12/18/2023","age":91,"user_updated":false,"image":null}},{"node":{"id":"09ee83fc-93d2-595f-a6a4-aef8adb1b42c","slug":"2023-12-18-Linnette-Roberts","name":"Linnette Roberts","content":{"data":{"content":"Linnette Marie Roberts, also known as Nettie, passed away peacefully on December 18, 2023, at the age of 49 in Raleigh, North Carolina.
