After a week surrounded by her 4 children, she left us peacefully as the sun was setting and the sky was painted in brilliant shades of pink and oranges. Just the fanfare she would have loved for her heavenly sendoff.\n\nEdith, or \"Edie\" to her friends and family, was born on June 7, 1939 to Thelma and Lloyd Wilkinson in Willow Springs, Missouri and was the youngest of 5 children. She graduated from Lebanon High School in 1957, and was homecoming queen her senior year. She attended Southwest Baptist College in Bolivar, Missouri and Southwest Missouri State College in Springfield, Missouri, before heading west with her older brother, Don, to attend Adams State College in Alamosa, Colorado. It was there she met the love of her life, James \"Jim\" William Buckley, whom she would marry in 1962 after graduating from Adams State.\n\nEdie and Jim were inseparable during their nearly 60 years together and were loving and devoted parents to their four children and eventually their 8 grandchildren. \n\nJim's management career with the Montgomery Ward catalog division began in Chicago, Illinois, and would ultimately move the family to New Jersey; Albany, New York; and Baltimore, Maryland. Edie and Jim also lived in Winston-Salem, North Carolina and Minneapolis, Minnesota before retiring to Wilmington, North Carolina. While raising her family, Edie worked as a business education and physical education teacher, although she eventually found her niche as a personal banker and worked for various banks and credit unions during their years in Baltimore, Winston-Salem, Minneapolis and Wilmington. Edie and Jim made friends wherever they were living, but it became clear that as long as they were together it did not matter where they were. In 2021, they moved to Raleigh, North Carolina to be closer to daughter Kerry and her family.\n\nAfter Jim passed away on New Year's Day 2022, Edie was welcomed into a new group of female friends who were a tremendous support to her. She enjoyed their various activities, including dominoes, but mostly their fellowship. She was also an avid gardener. At the time of her passing, she was a parishioner at St. Catherine of Siena Catholic Church in Wake Forest, North Carolina.\n\nEdie is survived by her four children, their spouses and eight grandchildren: Gregory (Hope) Buckley of Florence, Alabama; Laura (Henry) Hood of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma; Cynthia (Greg) Sword of Lawrenceville, Georgia; and Kerry (James) Regan of Wake Forest, North Carolina; and grandchildren Remi and James Buckley, Sydney and Emory Hood, Patrick and Alex Sword and Kaitlyn and Jackie Regan. She is also survived by her beloved and devoted \"Schipoo\" companion, Maggie, as well as many nieces, nephews and in-laws, including Jim's brothers and sister whom she considered her own family, as well as the surviving spouses of her own siblings, some of whom she still talked with almost weekly.\n\nShe is predeceased by her beloved husband, James William Buckley; parents Thelma and Lloyd Wilkinson, and all four of her siblings, Evelyn Renner, Dale Wilkinson, Don Wilkinson and Ron Wilkinson. \n\nThe date of a memorial mass at St. Catherine of Siena Church will be determined."}},"city":"Raleigh","county":"Wake","state":"North Carolina","deathdate":"02/02/2024","age":84,"user_updated":true,"image":{"localFile":{"publicURL":"/static/d94943954b31b5892fbd996bd2eb69da/object_Object_356b10180e.jpeg"}}}},{"node":{"id":"6c18997e-2da7-5a25-b3eb-1b4ce0d99060","slug":"2024-02-02-Christopher-Koszyk","name":"Christopher Koszyk","content":{"data":{"content":""}},"city":"Rolesville","county":"Wake","state":"North Carolina","deathdate":"02/02/2024","age":41,"user_updated":false,"image":null}},{"node":{"id":"e3b28e16-09a9-5743-aecb-01e5d61e2e71","slug":"2024-02-02-Peter-Floyd","name":"Peter (Pete) Floyd","content":{"data":{"content":"Peter Charles Floyd departed from our world on February 2, 2024 surrounded by his loving family. Pete was born May 12, 1956 in Upper Darby, PA to Jack and Peg (Kim) Floyd and was the youngest of four boys. \n\nPete grew up in Drexel Hill, PA with frequent family trips to Hershey, Pittsburgh, and the Jersey Shore, where he fell in love with sailing and the sea. As a kid, Pete was a standout catcher and played in sectionals for the Little League World Series. Pete discovered his love of golf while working as a caddy. He grew up an avid Philadelphia Eagles fan (and was ecstatic to celebrate their first Super Bowl win in 2018!). In addition to sports, Pete loved music and playing the piano.\n\nSeeking a new adventure, he attended Loyola University New Orleans and met the love of his life, Mimi Kenny, in 1975. They were soon married and began a family, crisscrossing the southeast during his years in the hospitality business before settling in Raleigh, NC in 1983. He later worked in pharmaceutical sales for several years and greatly enjoyed training and mentoring his teams. For the last few years of his career, Pete was the Director of Sales at Dilworth Coffee. \n\nPete would tell you his most fulfilling role was being a devoted father and husband. He loved to attend every sporting event his children participated in and took great joy in their accomplishments. Pete loved music and dancing with Mimi. They attended many concerts, hosting awesome tailgates, but some of the best times were the dances and laughs they shared at home. \n\nPete is predeceased by his parents and his brother Michael. He is survived by his loving wife of nearly 47 years, Mimi (Kenny); daughters Erin Connelly (Dan) of Philadelphia, PA, Becky Floyd (Jon Akins) of Wilmington, NC, and Megan Williams (Kelsey) of Carrboro, NC; son Peter Floyd (Christina) of New York, NY; four grandchildren (Payton, Ella and Rory Connelly and Marlow Williams) and several nieces and nephews. Pete is also survived by his brothers John (Gloria) of Westtown, PA and Mark of Drexel Hill, PA.\n\nA funeral mass will be held at 1:00 PM on Friday, February 9, 2024 at Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church, 2718 Overbrook Dr., Raleigh, NC 27608. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations can be made in Pete Floyd’s name to Educate 2 Envision (www.educate2envision.org)."}},"city":"Raleigh","county":"Wake","state":"North Carolina","deathdate":"02/02/2024","age":67,"user_updated":true,"image":{"localFile":{"publicURL":"/static/0ae050b4720fb33f8e15a488f830c3e2/object_Object_46530f3011.jpeg"}}}},{"node":{"id":"9f7af147-3d45-5fa7-ad85-a110b8f529be","slug":"article-341","name":"Tri Nguyen","content":{"data":{"content":""}},"city":"Raleigh","county":"Wake","state":"North Carolina","deathdate":"02/02/2024","age":49,"user_updated":false,"image":null}},{"node":{"id":"06567b4e-7878-52f3-b06b-355be2c23cd0","slug":"article-342","name":"Jack Benjamin Crawley, Jr.","content":{"data":{"content":""}},"city":"Raleigh","county":"Wake","state":"North Carolina","deathdate":"02/02/2024","age":79,"user_updated":false,"image":null}},{"node":{"id":"39db97a8-52d4-5b64-be7a-3d25970d6198","slug":"202-08-24-Robert-Bistok","name":"Robert Bistok","content":{"data":{"content":""}},"city":"Wake Forest","county":"Wake","state":"North Carolina","deathdate":"02/01/2024","age":75,"user_updated":false,"image":null}},{"node":{"id":"c81b796b-6e3f-5a40-b9a4-f87304c69b21","slug":"article-340","name":"Tina Wysor Robinson","content":{"data":{"content":""}},"city":"Apex","county":"Wake","state":"North Carolina","deathdate":"02/01/2024","age":72,"user_updated":false,"image":null}},{"node":{"id":"7d3cd26f-2dde-5be6-9d80-e6ffcf0806f2","slug":"2024-01-31-Lane-Montgomery","name":"Lane Montgomery","content":{"data":{"content":""}},"city":"Raleigh","county":"Wake","state":"North Carolina","deathdate":"01/31/2024","age":89,"user_updated":false,"image":null}}]}},"pageContext":{"limit":12,"skip":1836,"numPages":317,"currentPage":154,"numObits":3798,"featured":false}},
