Mary Ellen was born to Gordon and Donna Bee Foster in Bowling Green, Kentucky on September 30, 1959. After a divorce, Donna married Wayne (Papa) Fluhr, a career Army aviator. Being an “army brat” and moving several times during childhood allowed her to develop the ability to adapt to new surroundings. This served her well when she was chosen to be drum major of her high school band, which also pushed her to begin leaving behind some ‘wallflower’ tendencies. \n\nShe accepted Jesus Christ as her Lord and Savior in the 7th grade, growing in her faith. One of Mary Ellen’s greatest loves was teaching Bible Study. Her promise to God was to be ready to teach whenever asked. The Lord gave her many opportunities to do so. She taught youth, young couples, ladies, and senior adult ladies’ groups.\n\nUpon earning a bachelor’s degree in Rehabilitation Services from Murray State University and a master’s degree in Counseling from Arkansas State University, she spent her career in health and human services, helping people with emotional and physical disabilities become more independent. This led her to spend the majority of her career at Resource Management Services in Lake Charles, Louisiana serving as a mental health professional and compliance officer. While living in Louisiana, she was honored to serve as Treasurer and then President of the Lake Charles Commission on Disability.\n\nMary Ellen and James Bailey met at 30,000 feet in an American Airlines plane between Dallas and El Paso,Texas, exactly where God wanted them to meet. After a brief courtship, they married on September 1, 1984. James spent over 30 years in ministry and Mary Ellen was at his side the entire time, encouraging and supporting him. From this union came two wonderful sons, Justin Allen and Nathan James Bailey.\n\nAfter 30 years in Louisiana, they moved to North Carolina in 2019 to be near two grandchildren. Two quickly became four and were the light of Mary Ellen’s life. She had a ready smile anytime anyone asked about Kuyper, Emerson, Ambrose, or Joyce.\n\nSurvivors include husband James Alexander Bailey, son Justin Allen and wife Jennifer, son Nathan James and fiancé Rachel Williams, Stepfather Wayne Fluhr (Pam), sister Elizabeth Foster, brothers Stephen Fluhr (Denise) and Bryan Foster (Missy), brother-in-law Steven Paul, and stepbrother Kenny Gilliam. She was predeceased by mother Donna Bee Fluhr, father Gordon Foster, stepmother JoAnn Foster, sister Sarah Paul, and step-brother Mitch Gilliam.\n\nOne of Mary Ellen’s favorite scripture passages helped guide her life, II Thessalonians 5:16-18, “Rejoice always, pray continually, give thanks in all circumstances; for this is God’s will for you in Christ Jesus.”\n\nIn lieu of flowers, please send donations to Richland Creek Community Church designated to the missions offering. \n\nhttps://richlandcreek.tpsdb.com/Give/make-a-gift?type=once"}},"city":"Franklinton","county":"Franklin","state":"North Carolina","deathdate":"03/01/2024","age":64,"user_updated":true,"image":{"localFile":{"publicURL":"/static/0e172e24d46cea2b7131401acba27ce1/Mary_Bailey_7d0acbb301.jpg"}}}},{"node":{"id":"2a67dd7b-6a53-58e0-af28-bb1c27aec923","slug":"2024-02-29-Isabel-Garcia","name":"Isabel Garcia","content":{"data":{"content":"It is with heavy hearts that we share the peaceful passing of Isabel Garcia on February 29, 2024, in Cary, North Carolina at the age of 98.
