Henthorne, 84, of Raleigh passed away peacefully on Thursday June 19, 2024.  He is survived by his daughter, Debbie Goldston of Raleigh; one grandson, Billy Goldston, Jr. (Nicole) and one granddaughter, Ashlee Goldston, (Erric) and one Great Grandson (Erric, Jr), Raleigh; and one sister Joyce Mekee of Columbiana, OH and one sister in law Joyce O’Neil of FL and several nieces and many dear friends. He is preceded in death by his wife of 58 years, June C. Henthorne and son, David Henthorne.\n\nNelson was an active member of Millbrook Masonic Lodge #33 for over 45 years where he served as Secretary of the Lodge for 15 years. Nelson was also a member of the Scottish Rite where he was a 33rd degree mason, a member of the Arman Temple and drove his convertible in the Rag Top unit for several years. He also was a member of the Yorkrite for many years and served as the Director in the past. \n\nNelson attended Longview Baptist Church for about 6 years and served as an usher for a short period of time. Prior to him joining Longview Baptist Church he was a member of Trinity Presbyterian Church for over 45 years.\n\nThere will be a celebration of life soon. He was born on January 27, 1960 in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, the only son of Anne Laurie Cadigan Burgoyne and Atty Leo Austin Burgoyne.\n\nMichael lived for many years in Metuchen, NJ where he attended Saint Francis of Assisi Elementary School and graduated from Saint Joseph’s High School in 1978. He served as an altar boy at Saint Francis of Assisi Church throughout his school years.\n\nWhile at Saint Joseph’s, Michael distinguished himself as a track and field and cross country star, leading his school to the Conference and then State championships in 1977. He won numerous medals and accolades, particularly in the relay events. \n\nMichael trained and served as an Emergency Medical Technician and later followed his passion for helping others to enroll at the Somerset School of Massage and Body Therapy.  There, he earned his certification as a Licensed Body Massage Therapist. \n\nIn 1996, Michael moved to Raleigh, North Carolina, to pursue a career with Chiropractic Kinesiology Associates. There, he worked alongside the doctors and specialized in treating injuries and chronic musculoskeletal conditions. He earned a reputation for excellence and empathy in his time with the practice.\n\nIn Raleigh, Michael was a member of Saint Joseph’s Catholic Church and a Knight for Chapter 2546 of the Knights of Columbus. It was also in Raleigh that he met his other half, Katherine Gurlin, and the two married in August of 2001. Michael, Kathy, and their treasured fur babies shared a life rich with joy and companionship until Kathy’s passing in May of 2012.\n\nIn addition to his wife, Michael is predeceased by his father Atty Leo Austin Burgoyne (July 27, 1973), his mother Anne Laurie Cadigan Burgoyne (March 20, 2008) and his eldest sister Laurie Anne Burgoyne Fahrer (September 21, 2002).\n\nMichael is survived by his sister Lee-Ellen and her husband Alan Celeste, and nieces Cassidy, Kerian, and Brelyn Celeste of North Carolina; his sister Bethony and her husband Timothy Schreck, niece Heidi-Leigh and niece and goddaughter Holly Rose Schreck of New Jersey; and his niece and goddaughter Katie Leigh Fahrer Demeter and husband Robert Demeter, and their daughter Lauryn Marie Demeter; and his nephew Dan and wife Jayme Fahrer. \n\nMichael was very close to his huge family of cousins in New England including the Quinlans, the Moloneys, and the Burgoynes. His dearest friends and chosen family include Donald Lamb and Maryanne Bechtold Clark of New Jersey and Paul Meder of North Carolina. \n\nAbove all else, Michael loved the Lord. Strong, honest and steadfast, he endeavored to be the hands and feet of Jesus in everything he did. \n\nEveryone’s favorite neighbor, an avid dog lover, and a friend to all, Michael will be remembered for his bold, infectious spirit, his fierce loyalty to those he loved, and his ability to connect with people from all walks of life. \n\nMichael will be laid to rest in Saint Patrick’s Cemetery alongside his family in Lowell, MA in September. \n\nThe family is asking that, in lieu of flowers, donations be made to the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation (JDRF)."}},"city":"Raleigh","county":"Wake","state":"North Carolina","deathdate":"06/17/2024","age":64,"user_updated":true,"image":{"localFile":{"publicURL":"/static/3737730a2d4e016f12c2bad0c99e273f/object_Object_f05fda356e.jpeg"}}}},{"node":{"id":"9d4ad2a3-7e98-5073-9c28-6d1ab453721d","slug":"article-412","name":"Sara (Crittenton) Allan","content":{"data":{"content":"Sara (Crittenton) Allan\nRaleigh, NC\nAge 67\nDied June 17, 2024\n\nSara Allan, passed away quietly and peacefully at home on June 17, 2024 at the age of 67.\n\nShe is survived by her mother and father; Linda and George Crittenton, her siblings; Randy (Susan) Crittenton. Kathy (Boyd) Whitley , and twin sister Julie (Steve) Lockhart, several nieces and nephews, her loving husband of 37 years; Christian, and her children; Lindsay and Jordan.\n\nSara was born in Miami, Fl. and enjoyed her childhood in Ft Lauderdale, Fl. but spent most of her life in Raleigh, attending Millbrook HS and Appalachian State University. Prior to raising a family she worked in the healthcare field (Rex hospital) and as a travel agent, roaming the country and Europe with Christian.\n\nSara was a loving and dedicated mother for her children, serving as room mom and more for many years. She was active in the community and the Interfaith Food Shuttle organization and farm, including raising 50 chickens in her garage until mature enough to release on the farm.\n\nSara was also an avid gardener and had a certified “Natural Wildlife Habitat” in her yard , taking great enjoyment from wildlife, nature and trips to our National Parks as well as Holden Beach which was a\nparticularly special place to her and her family.\n\nSara fought a 3 year battle with cancer, Stage 4 when discovered, fighting hard and beating it back twice to continue to live life on her terms. In spite of the challenges she never lost her grace, her caring and pride for her family, her beautiful smile or her sense of humor. She had amazing strength and courage. A favorite saying of hers was “We cannot control the wind, but we can direct the sails” and that was how\nshe chose to live her life, filling especially the last few years with joy, calm, and laughter that was absolutely infectious to others.\n\nSara will be dearly missed and her presence will be felt the most by the ocean and in nature. Though she left us much too soon she would state repeatedly how grateful she was for her life experiences, her family and her many great memories. He was a loving husband and father and is dearly missed by all who knew him.\n\nBorn in Santos, Brazil, he was the son of the late John William Coachman and Alice Barreto Coachman.  \n\nJulio was a dedicated airline employee for over 35 years. His favorite position was as an international flight purser for Pan American World Airways for 31 years based in Miami, FL, where he met and married his wife, Carla, who was also a flight attendant and later purser. He often shared fond memories of his decades-long career with Pan Am and the places and people he encountered along the way. \n\nAfter his airline career ended, he continued working in various service positions in the Asheville/Hendersonville, NC areas. He was also able to devote more time to his red Volkswagen Beetle and his immense music collection, which he loved sharing with family and friends. \n\nHe is survived by his devoted wife of 50 years, Carla Cangiamila Coachman; three daughters, Karen Alice Coachman of Raleigh, NC, Angela Coachman Chanh of Durham, NC, and Giuliana Cassidy of Lake Worth, FL; two sisters, Alice Coachman Braschoss of Philadelphia, PA and Maria José Coachman Rombauer of São Paulo, Brazil; and numerous cousins and extended family members all over the world. Along with his parents, he was preceded in death by his sister, Vera Coachman, and his brother Carlos Eduardo Coachman. \n\nIn lieu of a funeral service, the family will plan a celebration of life at a later date. With a desire to help others from a young age and a love for the movie Legally Blonde, she was inspired to pursue a career in law. After graduating from Appalachian State University with a Bachelors in History in 2012, she continued her education by completing Meredith College’s paralegal program. \n\nJessica was a bright spirit and wonderful friend who was accepting of anyone who had the pleasure of meeting her. She was honest and funny, and although she could sometimes be blunt, that was just her way of letting you know that she loved you. When Jessica was younger, she loved playing soccer. She was always proud of the life lessons that sports taught her, such as how to be a good friend and teammate. When she wasn’t on the field she could be found in the stands loudly supporting local teams. Jessica, an avid and talented cook, would host “family dinner” in college where she would cook an extravagant meal for her closest friends. Her favorite night was Italian night, held every Thursday. Jessica was well-versed in many topics and could hold a conversation with anyone. She was a huge Harry Potter fan and enjoyed all things “Bravo”. She also kept up with college basketball (Go Heels!), football, and current events. Jessica loved traveling whenever she had the chance. One of her favorite trips was exploring Rome with some of her best friends in college where they marveled at all the ancient history. Rumel lived a life full of love, kindness, and dedication. She spent her years spreading joy and compassion to everyone she encountered. \n\nRumel was preceded in death by her parents; husband Robert A. Bradt, son Joe A. Denning and brother Robert E. Taylor. Scott embraced a life filled with laugher and joy. He cherished his family above all, finding great delight in spending time with them, sharing stories, and creating memories that will be treasured forever.\n\nFishing was one of Scott’s greatest loves. The serenity of the water, the excitement of a catch, and the quiet moments of reflection brought him immense peace and joy. He shared this passion with his children and grandchildren, teaching them patience, perseverance, and an appreciation for the beauty of God's creation.\n\nScott was also known for his wonderful sense of humor. His jokes and laughter could light up a room, bringing smiles to faces and lifting spirits wherever he went. His ability to find humor in everyday moments was a gift that he shared generously, leaving a legacy of joy and fond memories.\n\nScott gave his life to God, firmly believing that when he passed, he would be with Jesus and reunited with his beloved Kevin and Vickie. This deep faith provided him with strength and comfort. As Scott took his last breaths, his daughter-in-law read Psalms and prayed over him. He entered those heavenly gates in peace, leaving behind the suffering, and now resides in eternity. It brings us great comfort to know that we will see him again one day and that he is exactly where he wanted to spend eternity.\n\nScott is survived by his son Travis Weichelt (Crystal), his brother Mick Weichelt (Barbara) of Arizona, Grandchildren Michaela Ciechowski, Savannah Weichelt, Jaxson Weichelt, Bryson Ludwig, Callie Ludwig, Great Grandchildren Harper and Blakley, and many dear friends and extended family members. He is preceded in death by his parents Raymond and Helen Weichelt, brother Gary Weichelt, son Kevin Weichelt, and the love of his life Vickie Weichelt.\n\nA celebration of Scott’s life will be held on June at 19th at 6:30pm at Travis and Crystals home 1152 Walker rd Sanford NC 27332.
