Layton, 80, of Fearrington Village, North Carolina, passed away peacefully on July 20, 2024, surrounded by family, after a brief illness.\n\nLarry was born and grew up on Long Island, NY, to William and Elizabeth Layton, the eldest of four children. After high school, he attended Clarkson University in Potsdam, NY, where he earned his bachelor’s and master’s degrees in chemical engineering.\n\nWhile attending Clarkson, Larry met his future wife, Barbara, an education major at NYSU in Potsdam. They celebrated their 56th anniversary on December 30, 2023.  Their three children are Jennifer, Sara Blackwell (Gordon) and John (Kathleen). Family has always been the center of Larry and Barbara’s lives, and they welcomed six\ngrandchildren: Anna, Ben, Laura, Arabella, Beckett, and Holden.\n\nLarry’s 35-year career with DuPont resulted in several family moves within the US and Canada. In 2002, Larry and Barbara retired to Fearrington Village, and in 2004, Larry completed his MSW at UNC-Chapel Hill’s School of Social Work. As a licensed clinical social worker, he counseled older adults. After retiring from this second career, Larry immediately began serving on Weatherfield’s HOA board as vice president.\n\nLarry is also survived by brothers Jeffrey and Robert, sister Linda Greves, and several nieces and nephews. His joys included travel with Barbara and friends, jogging, relaxing at the beach, and surf and fly fishing. He greatly enjoyed science fiction books and movies, and he was an avid UNC basketball fan.\n\nLarry will be remembered for his love for family and friends, as well as his dedicated service to career and community.\n\nA funeral service will be held on August 9, 2024, at 2:30pm, at St. Thomas More Catholic Church, with reception to follow in the church hall. He was born on December 9, 1965, and grew up in Clementon, NJ. \n\nJohn is preceded in death by his mother, Dorothy Pedersen, and brothers Richard and Stephen. He leaves behind in love and sorrow his wife, Sherry (Quay) Pedersen; children Melissa Long (Chris), John Pedersen, Jr. (Sarah), Breelyssa Pedersen, 16, and Joselynne Pedersen, 14; father Thomas J. Pedersen, Jr.; brother Tom Pedersen (Norma); grandchildren Terra Pedersen and Amir Pedersen; and many nephews and nieces.\n\nJohn was an avid Philly sports lover who umpired and coached his children and many others in T-ball and softball for over 10 years. His passion was uncontainable, his competitive spirit unmatched, his pride in his children limitless, his love infinite, and his humor infectious. He will be deeply missed by family, friends, and all who knew him until we meet again.\n\nA funeral service will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Thursday, July 25, 2024, at North Raleigh United Methodist Church, 8501 Honeycutt Rd. He was the eldest child born to Lawrence and Mary Hull on July 4, 1941 in Madison, Wisconsin. He was raised in Miami, Florida, and graduated from college at Florida State University, where he met and married the love of his life, Ann Thomason, on August 2, 1964. \nAfter Norm's father retired, he became the owner and operator of their fishing rod company, Larco Tackle, in Miami, Florida, until it closed in 1986. He then moved the family to Willow Spring, North Carolina, in 1987, where he worked for a company in Fuquay-Varina, NC, setting up a fishing rod factory in Bejing, China. He eventually worked for American Airlines until his retirement in 2002. \nNorm enjoyed spending time with his family, traveling with his wife all over the world, building lifelong friendships with neighbors, talking to anyone and everyone wherever he went, fishing, deer hunting, and being part of the \"Real Beard Santa\" club, making so many kids smile while working at Cabela's and Bass Pro Stores during the Christmas season as their store Santa. Norm was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, Christian, and friend; he will truly be missed!\nNorm was preceded in death by his parents, Lawrence and Mary Hull, his brother Robert Neal Hull, and his son Norman Richard Hull, Jr.\nNorm is survived by his wife of 60 years, Ann Thomason Hull, son James Lawrence Hull, daughter Suzanne Hull Barwick, husband Neil Barwick, granddaughters Sarah Hope Hull and Regan Elizabeth Adams, sisters Sherrie Hull Doherty and Linda Hull McCartney, as well as several nieces and nephews. \nTo honor Norm's memory, a service will be held on Saturday, July 27, 2024, at 11 a.m. at Fuquay-Varina United Methodist Church (FVUMC). He graduated from Waltham High School. He later moved to Cape Coral, FL where he raised his children and spent majority of his adult life. James was in the process of taking online college courses to better himself. James had many careers ranging from a truck driver to running his own businesses. However he found his true calling later in life; working in treatment centers. He discovered this love when he so selfishly cared for his wife in the end stages of cancer. He enjoyed his job because he loved helping others stay sober and get on the right track. James loved spending time with his kids/grandkids, embarrassing his loved ones, and making jokes.    \n\nJames is preceded in death by his wife; Karen Lynch; and survived by a number of grieving people: children, Morgan Mays, Eric Mays, Devonrae Lynch (Micah Harward), Dominique Varner (Taylor), Nico Lynch (Sadara Dustin); grandchildren, Brayden Rollins, Charlotte Harward, Taylor James(TJ) and Gracelyn Varner; Father Bill Lynch; Mother Kathleen Pintabone; Brother, Jonathan Austen; an aunt, uncle, and a number of cousins and friends who forever will cherish his memory. After Charlie graduated from Oceanside High School in 1966, he went on to the U.S. Coast Guard Academy. He later graduated from Clarkson University.\n\nIn 1969, Charlie met Denny while attending college. Charlie was a member of Alpha Chi Rho Fraternity and enjoyed attending many college mixers with Denny. Charlie and Denny were married in 1971 and have two children, Mandy (Chris & Jules) and Bryan. He is survived by his sisters Joanne, Pammy, and Peggy (predeceased).\n\nAfter graduating with a degree in Chemical Engineering, Charlie started his first job at Chemico in Manhattan, NY as a project manager. He went on to have a successful career in telecommunications and retired from Gartner in 2003 to spend his time at the beach.\n\nThrough the years, Charlie stayed in touch with his brothers of Alpha Chi Rho. He also loved spending time with his family and friends at the Shag Club and listening to music. He loved the ocean and being on the water. He was predeceased by his father, Frank Conway.\n\nMichael’s life was marked by his unwavering commitment to service and helping others. He served in the U.S. Army and the Connecticut Army National Guard and fought in Kosovo and Afghanistan as an infantry squad leader. He was a full-time and later reserve police officer for more than nineteen years. He was devoted to his family, and had a tremendous heart and a compassionate spirit.\n\nFriendly and outgoing, Michael always lived life to the fullest and loved spending time with the love of his life, Courtney, and his friends and family. Perhaps more than anything else he liked a good laugh. His sense of humor and quick wit made him a beloved figure, always ready to lighten the mood and make everyone laugh.\n\nSports held a special place in Walter's heart, and he was an avid fan of the New York Knicks, New York Mets, and New York Jets. Watching his favorite teams compete brought him great joy and excitement.\n\nFishing was another passion of Walter's. He found solace and peace in spending time by the water, casting his line, and enjoying the beauty of nature.\n\nAbove all, Walter was a devoted father who always looked out for the well-being of his children. He was their protector and always made sure they were safe and cared for. His absence will be deeply felt by all who knew and loved him.\n\nThe loss of Walter Nack is a profound tragedy, and his memory will forever be cherished. May his soul rest in eternal peace. He graduated in 2000 from Southwestern High School in Piasa, Illinois.  He attended Lewis & Clark Community College, Living Light School of Worship, and later on, Pikes Peak Community College.  His areas of expertise included automotive repair, music theory, and information technology.  He was a talented  guitarist, playing both electric and bass guitar.  He thrived in his role as a senior business analysis manager for T-Mobile, where he worked for 16 years.  He was known for his hard work, humor, and interdepartmental collaboration.  \n\nBut more than anything, Nate was a devoted father.  He loved spending time with his children, teaching them how to build things, playing games, going to the beach, and watching movies.  His children adored him, and equally loved making him laugh.  They attended The Summit Church in Raleigh after moving from Colorado Springs, CO to Franklinton, North Carolina.  He enjoyed working on house projects and driving his tractor on their 17-acre homestead.  \n\nNathaniel is survived by his wife of 17 years, Rene; his children, Connor, Ainsley, Rowan, and Oliver;  his parents Dale and Rebecca Stewart; his siblings Nicholas Stewart, Percy Stewart, Brandy (Cory) Simmons; two nephews, and one niece; his father in law and mother in law Scott and Kathy Barragree; brother in law Kevin Barragree; and many others.  His memory will be cherished by those near and far. \n\nThere will be no funeral service, but a celebration of life may be held at a later date. She attended T.C. Roberson High School and UNC-Wilmington. She has many old  friends in Arden, NC where she came of age. \nShe was devoted to her AA group “Women Empowering Women” in Wilmington.
