Born on August 24, 1934, Robert was known for his amiable and outgoing personality, often described as a \"good guy\" by those who knew him.  He had an innate ability to make and appreciate friends, driven by his love for entertaining. \n\nRobert graduated from Jeannette High School and soon after embarked on a significant career with Jeannette Glass Company, where he also served as a Union Secretary for American Flint Glassworkers. His work not only demonstrated his dedication but also his commitment to the welfare of his colleagues.\nIn his leisure time, Robert was affectionately nicknamed \"Cueball,\" a nod to his passion for billiards. Wesley Clark Jr.","content":{"data":{"content":"Clyde Wesley Clark, Jr. (Wesley), aged 65, passed away peacefully at Transitions Hospice on Tuesday, October 8 after a long illness\nHe is survived by his wife Esther Myers Clark of Knightdale,  Adult Child Aspen (Erin) Clark  and wife Robin Uhl of Raleigh, as well as extended family, friends and loved ones.  Wesley is preceded in death by his parents, Clyde W. Clark Sr. and Nadean Clark, and sister Patricia (Patsy) Clark of Greensboro, NC.\nWesley was active in Student Government during High School and became a beloved Student Body President of Southeast Guilford High in 1976.  He was an Angier B. Duke Scholar and graduated from Duke University in 1986.  Wesley was active in the school choir, which led him to join various church choirs through the years.  He loved history and genealogy and was happy discovering new family roots. \nDuring high school, he became politically active in the Republican Party.  He worked in the Helms for Senate, Reagan for President and many other campaigns.  He ran unsuccessfully for the NC House.   After graduating, he moved to Washington D.C. and became a Congressional Liaison for the Federal Trade Commission in the Reagan Administration.\nHe returned to Greensboro in 1989 to serve as an Ombudsman for the Guilford County Commissioners.  After a political coup, he left to work with the Friends of the Court office.   Wesley served as Vice Chairman of the Guilford County Republican Party and was honored to be selected as a Presidential Elector from the 6th District in the 1992 election.\nAfter the election, he accepted a new position with the N.C. Department of Crime Control and Public Safety in the Governor’s Crime Commission.  He served in several positions, including writing a monthly newsletter, The Journal, and for most notably as a Community Justice Planner working with the Community Watch, Crime Stoppers and Scholastic Crime Stoppers programs, helping them organize in different cities and counties, and writing grants for these organizations other crime prevention programs.  \nWesley retired in 2015 as his health began to fail.  The NC Crime Stoppers awarded him with a lifetime board membership in 2021 along with naming their state award for the Board Member of the Year the “Wesley Clark Award”.  \nThe family would like to thank Transitions Hospice, Synergy HomeCare, Zebulon Rehab and Duke Hospital for their dedication and care for Wesley during these last few months of his life. \nA Celebration of Life will be held at Edenton United Methodist Church, 228 W. Cone (Kenneth); her sisters-in-law Jeanette W. Morgan and Louise Morgan Rizk (Sam).  Memorial Service to be held Friday, October 11th at 1:00 - Samaria Baptist Church, Middlesex NC. Visitation immediately following in CLC.\n\nEmily, born & raised in Samaria, attended Samaria Baptist Church and later Middlesex Church of God.  Music and playing the piano were her passion and she held the positions of Adult Choir Director, Youth Choir Director & Pianist. Emily who enjoyed gardening and was blessed with a green thumb could always be found outside working in her yard. She was a great cook and was famous for her chocolate pies. Emily loved to travel and visited 49 states which included Alaska & Hawaii, the Bahamas & Costa Rica. Emily laughed, sang, danced, enjoyed life and loved her family. He was the proud father of Lisa Skelley and her husband, Jim Skelley; Anna Lowdermilk; and Shelia Bayler and her husband, Jeff Bayler. James adored his grandchildren: Seth Bayler, Devin McMahan and his wife, Ana McMahan; and Sara Wells and her husband, Kyle Wells. He felt privileged to have four great-grandchildren: Rosalie Wells, Hannah Wells, Camilla McMahan, and Chloe McMahan. His family wouldn’t be complete without his granddogs: Thor, Josie, and Cocoa.\n\nJames had a long and hardworking career, contributing his skills and dedication at Klopman Mills, Eveready Battery, and Randolph County Public Schools. In his leisure time, James enjoyed watching NASCAR races, Western movies, and spending quality time with his buddy, Thor, tossing the ball and enjoying the simple joys of life. He also took great pride in keeping his truck spotless, appreciating a clean, detailed vehicle, and regularly washed and cleaned it with care.\n\nJames will be remembered for his straightforward approach to life and the fact that he never let his beer get warm. Honoring James’ wishes, a private service for the family will be held. She was the first of five children born to Albert Thomas Robinson and Gladys Mary Massey of Kingston-upon-Thames, Surrey, England.\n\nRita was an energetic and active young lady, studying business accounting and being active in community dance and theater.\n\nShe married an American serviceman, Lee Irvin Forrest, in 1952 and became a homemaker. They had three children, Scott Robin Forrest of Wilmington, NC, Terry Lee Forrest of Raleigh, and Danny Lee Forrest, deceased.\n\nAfter the illness of her husband, Rita relocated to the United States of America. It was her hope that this would provide better opportunities for her children. The family moved several times before settling in Mt. Airy, NC. Rita remained in Mt. Airy until 1982 when she relocated to Wilmington, NC to pursue a bachelor’s degree at the University of North Carolina at Wilmington. Following her graduation, she moved to Raleigh, NC where she worked at College Foundation, Inc. where she remained until her retirement. \n\nRita was a voracious reader, often consuming 2-3 novels each week.  She was skilled at knitting and crocheting. She was an avid NC State Wolfpack fan and was known to have produced countless sweaters, afghans and other items while she watched her beloved Wolfpack on television. She was an active member of St. Timothy’s Episcopal Church where she had many close friends. \n\nShe is survived by her sister, Loretta Chapman of Swindon, Wiltshire, UK, her two sons, seven grandchildren and several great-grandchildren. In addition, she is survived by Sophie, her beloved Maltipoo, who was her constant and inseparable companion during the last elven years of her life. \n\nFuneral services will be held at St. Timothy’s Episcopal Church in Raleigh, NC at 3 PM Sunday, October 20th.
