He was born on October 12, 1929 in Oklahoma City OK to Loy Lester McFarlin and Julia Mae Collins McFarlin. He graduated from Little Rock (AR) High School in 1947 and was a 1951 graduate of Virginia Military Institute, where he played football, wrestled and threw the discus. He earned a PhD in Chemistry at Purdue University and enjoyed a successful career as a research chemist and corporate executive, working at Monsanto in St Louis, the Agrichemicals division of US Steel in Atlanta and Lester Laboratories in Atlanta. He concluded his career as Research Director at The Florida Industrial and Phosphate Research Institute in Bartow FL. His interests included fishing, sports, restoring cars and working crossword puzzles.\n\nHe was preceded in death by his parents, his wife of 58 years Clara Jane Burroughs McFarlin and two brothers, Dr. Robert L. McFarlin of Salisbury MD and Jack C. McFarlin of Little Rock AR. He is survived by one brother, Whitney A. McFarlin of Minneapolis MN; four children, Robin Godwin (N’Earl) of Winston-Salem NC, Richard P. McFarlin (Sonia) of Jacksonville FL, Rebecca Bray (Michael) of Cary NC, and Roger McFarlin (Pam) of Statesboro GA; eight grandchildren, Dr. Trey Godwin, Brooks Godwin, Ryan McFarlin, Christian McFarlin, Ginny Bray Ho, Katie Bray, Stephen McFarlin and Sarah McFarlin; five great grandchildren, many nieces and nephews and special friend Sarah Winslow. He had a kind heart, always wanting to help out others. He loved his family and considered his many friends to be part of his family. He is loved, and will be greatly missed, and will continue to live in our hearts and memories.\n\nMichael is survived by his mother, Sharon and stepfather, Dan Hangebrauck, his brother Jonathan Clemens and his wife Brittany, nephew Jackson Clemens and step nieces, Jalyn and Brylie. \n\nA Celebration of life will be held on Sunday, November 10, 2024, at Panther Branch Community Center, 10900 Ten-Ten Rd, Garner, NC 27529. Damian was 50 years old. \n\nDamian was such a special person and he touched so many lives during his time with us on earth.  He is survived by Matthew, his life partner of 27 years and his parents (Pononcio  and Juana) as well as his 8 siblings.  He was preceded in death by one brother and his Grandmother. \n\nDamian requested to be sent home to his family in Mexico for his final service which is where he will be laid to rest next to his beloved Grandmother. Born on August 13, 1943, in Rocky Mount, North Carolina, Jerry was the beloved son of the late James Ernest Meadows Sr. and Agnes Mizzel Meadows.\n\nIn life, Jerry exemplified the qualities of kindness, love, and generosity. A man of deep faith, Jerry was a devout Christian and found comfort in his Christian beliefs, which guided him throughout his life's journey. He cherished every moment with his family, friends, and community, leaving a lasting impression on all who knew him. \n\nAfter meeting at East Carolina University, Jerry and Sandra got married and spent 56 years together. Throughout his life, Jerry had many hobbies including woodworking and fishing. Jerry owned and ran a grocery store in Hopewell, Virginia- S&N Supermarket which also turned into a catering business. Once he and Sandra moved down to Buxton, North Carolina, he started a Repair & Maintenance company called RAM Inc. While living at the beach, Jerry spent many hours fishing with his friends, and family, making sure he taught everyone how to catch the first and biggest fish! \n\nJerry was preceded in death by his devoted wife, Sandra Hazlett Meadows, who was the love of his life and biggest supporter; his parents, James and Agnes Meadows; five sisters- Jean, Sue, Glenda, Patty and Betty Ann; two brothers- Garland and James Ernest Jr.; and a former daughter-in-law whom he loved like his own, Karen Lynn Rainey. He is survived by his loving children, John Clark Meadows and Jody Catherine Meadows; a former daughter-in-law, Amy Parsons Meadows, whom he also loved and considered his own; four grandchildren, Jilian Meadows Allen (Dustin), Addison Paige Meadows, Jordan Cyrus Meadows and Mallory Grace Meadows; two great-grandchildren, Aiden Thomas Allen and Avery Lynn Allen, along with many close family and friends. His family was the center of his world, and he devoted himself to their well-being with open arms and an open heart.\n\nThe family of Jerry Meadows invites friends and loved ones to a funeral service celebrating his life on Friday, November 15, at Cedar Rock First Baptist Church, located at 4879 NC-56, Castalia, NC 27816, beginning at 11:00 in the morning. His sense of humor and kind spirit brought joy to all who knew him, and his pets were his pride, loved like his own children. \n\nDennis is survived by his loving wife Sandra, his best friend and partner of 51 years; his son, Bryant; his daughter, Stacy; and grandchildren Austin, Asher, and Savannah, and his great granddaughter, Scarlet. He also leaves behind many nieces, nephews and dear friends who will remember him with love. \n\nA celebration of life will be held at the family home on Saturday, November 23.
